Fold-Formed Layered Sterling Silver and 18k Gold Textured Ring - sz 7-3/4

$215.00

Fold-forming is a technique of folding and hammering metal, annealing it to “soften”, using a knife/blade to open it up and then shaping with the crease permanently set. I started this ring with a fold in Argentium sterling silver, hammered that fold to create texture and a flatter surface, and then started playing with textured “rays” of silver to mimic the fold. Only by looking at the underside can you be sure which of the rays is actually folded metal and which are soldered.

Varied texture is added between the silver strips and for surface contrast, it’s accented with 3 bright fused Argentium silver balls and 1 small ball of 18k gold for a little pop. After antiquing the ring, I buffed off the high points to bring out the layers and brighten the high spots. The shape is organic and curvy, resting close to the hand. The ring centerpiece is a bit under 32mm or 1-1/4” tip to tip, and 18mm wide across the band. The smooth Argentium sterling silver band is a generous 6mm wide with a satin finish. Only one available - Size 7-3/4

This is the type of ring that can only be one-of-a-kind because the combination of pieces, folding, texturing, layering and antiquing cannot be exactly duplicated. You will receive the exact ring shown, packaged in a jewelry box and shipped by USPS in a padded mailer with tracking link. I will upgrade to Priority Mail insured at full value for the regular First Class price for this piece.

The inside of the band shows some dimension as well from texturing work on the outside. It is comfortable to wear, with a lot of handmade character.
